We were disappointed, although not terribly surprised, that Alberta Transportation Minister Brian Mason refused our request to meet with him to seek a resolution to the Carillion/Emcon issue. His letter dated February 11, 2019, said a meeting would be “imprudent” while the issue is before the courts.
The court date is now in late May 2019, by which time Minister Mason will likely have handed the issue to the next Minister of Transportation. He is not running for re-election in the Alberta election expected this spring.
We hope that the next Minister of Transportation is more sensitive to fostering a fair and competitive climate for Alberta businesses to thrive. We noticed in this recent Calgary Herald story about the de-privatization of driver road testing in Alberta, that we are not the only businesses hurt by ideological decisions made by this minister.mason-re-mtg-request
