Following the election of the new UCP government in Alberta, we welcomed Premier Kenney’s appointment of an experienced minister to lead Alberta’s Ministry of Transportation. The Honourable Ric McIver brings many years of experience as both a provincial cabinet minister and a former City Councillor in Calgary. When serving as Minister of Transportation in the government of Premier Redford, Minister McIver successfully negotiated the Calgary SW ring road completion in 2013. We expect him to be sensitive to highway safety and the importance of competitive tendering for highway maintenance.
We sent Minister McIver a letter to inform him about the Carillion bankruptcy sale issues and the legal actions that we have regrettably been forced to take against the Government of Alberta. We also offered a meeting at his convenience to discuss the issues and hopefully agree on out-of-court solutions that could level the competitive playing field while avoiding placing demands on an over-burdened Alberta court system.
Due to the change of government, court dates have been postponed until later in the year.
